Abimelech

Abimelech is a Philistine king featured in the Hebrew Bible, appearing primarily in the accounts of Abraham and Isaac in the Book of Genesis. He is portrayed as the ruler of Gerar, a kingdom in the Levant, and encounters both Abraham and Isaac during significant moments in their respective narratives.

In the biblical account, Abimelech demonstrates a complex character as both a protective and cautious ruler. When Abraham presents his wife Sarah as his sister, Abimelech takes her into his household, only to be warned by God in a dream about her true identity. Similarly, Abimelech later has interactions with Isaac regarding wells and disputes over water rights, conflicts that were ultimately resolved peacefully through covenant agreements.
